Some years back, I exhibited at local arts and crafts festivals. The photo on the right was taken at the Avondale Christmas Festival of 2003 where I created an assortment of little hand-made ornaments; stockings, hearts, and tiny pillows and exhibited them in an antique desk drawer.
White wide-wale corduroy made perfect little cuffs for the stockings. Black panne velvet and red satin provide the perfect backdrop for silk ribbon Poinsettias. They are framed with pine boughs and holly berries worked with fly stitch and silk ribbon.
Christmas is for giving. I like to create handmade ornaments for friends and family. Here are a few samples of ornaments I have either sold or given to friends as Christmas gifts.
The stockings and hearts are fun to finish with embroidered details of fir, snowflakes or holly. And the little Poinsettia pillows are beautiful miniatures to grace a tree.
