I enjoy browsing thrift stores for that "perfect little something".  Here's one: this great little denim vest was $3.29. I designed this vest to wear when I showed at arts and crafts festivals.  It looks great with my favorite straw hat.
My Jackmani clematis was in bloom at the time, and served as the starting place for the spill of flowers down both front panels.  I included roses, marigolds, asters, fuchsias, daisies and forget-me-nots.

This denim jacket (above & right) was commissioned by Penny McHenry, the "First Lady of Hydrangeas".  Penny asked me to embroider this jacket with her favorite hydrangeas to wear when she was asked to speak at local garden clubs.

Some of you may have one of her Penny Macs growing in own your garden as I do.  The hydrangeas featured are the Pee GeeBlue Billows, the oak leaf hydrangea Snow Queen and, of course, her Penny Mac.

This project required a special order of  hand dyed silks.  I purchased these from Poplollies and Bellybones (unfortuantely no longer available). These silks were expensive, but well worth it. The resulting silk flowers have the subtlety and beauty of the living flower.  I loved working with these gorgeous silks.  It is a tactile pleasure enjoyed by all silk ribbon enthusiasts.
