Framed Garden
The idea for this composition came from one I saw in J. Marsha Michler's book, Crazy Quilting. The crazy quilting is centered around a large Battenburg lace panel, all attached to a muslin base. The next phase was to embroider the borders of each patch. The final phase, which took the longest, was the silk ribbon embroidered flowers superimposed on the previous layers. Since it is a very textured piece, I needed a huge frame to balance this large composition and to accommodate the depth of the flowers. I was lucky to find the perfect frame at a thrift store . Each little nosegay took two to three nights to complete, so the entire project took me over 6 months to finish. It is now hanging in my master bedroom and I love it.
